Advice to Everyone

Today my class were split into groups to find out whether the sites we were given were real, or fake. Here's what we did (in order):
  • First we researched the people/person who made the blog, for my blog, the author is Lyle Zapato. Here's what you should do:
    • Find the author's name.
    • Find out what makes the author an expert.
    • See if there's grammar or spelling errors.
    • See if you can contact the author.
  • Then we found out if the information can be trusted.
    • Is the website for profit?
    • Can you find the same information in other places?
    • Is the author trying to persuade you? Strong wording.
  • It this site/article up to date?
    • Can you find the date of the site/article?
    • When was the site/article last revised?
    • Do the links work?
  • Will this site have the information I need?
    • Does the information answer my research question?
    • Is the site easy to navigate?
    • Is there useful information for students?
Here are the phony websites we researched:

Words of Advice to Myself

Today we had our first Gecko Bucks Auction, we are going to have two more this school year. Here are some advice for myself for the other auctions:

  • Don't buy TOO much food (8/9 things I got were food).
  • At first, don't bid for things
  • Save money for what you want the most
  • Use all money (or most of it)
  • Don't be too noisy

I think the most fun was to see the happiness and craziness people had in them while getting the things, and I it was really fun getting real things with (non-real) gecko bucks.
